The Pawtucket Arts Collaborative’s 9th Annual Pawtucket Foundation Prize Exhibition opened to an enthusiastic crowd on May 19, 2016.  Thirty-nine “original and provocative works” were selected by Jurors, Nancy Whipple Grinnell of the Newport Art Museum and Catherine Bert of the Providence-based Bert Gallery. “Fresh subject matter…and technical prowess drew me,” explained Grinnell about her process.  “Ultimately I chose work to which I responded with empathy, humor or admiration.”  Bert commented, “I was so impressed by the number of people making art,” adding that “sometimes a juror misses the mark, but we draw from our experience of evaluating art and celebrate all artists who strive to create visual images that enrich the human experience.”

The top prize of $1,000 was awarded to Maira Reinbergs for Mandala #7, My Grandfather, handprinted muslin, acrylic, photograph on panel.
